Fleeting Sensation

When I least expect it

It comes like a gust of wind

A flash of a pleasurable sensation

Of something vague that happened

At some point in time.

It may start very early in the day

On a summer morning

When there is serenity in the air.

The rays of the sun

Have just started

To warm up my spirit.

The birds have begun

Their joyous busy day.

And the sleepy flowers

Slowly lay out their petals

And face the Sun

To expose the blush of beauty

Hidden throughout the night.

And then,

A cool exhilarating breeze

Skims gently over my body.

A memory of something

That had happened

I do not know when, where  and how.

A segment of my life

Indelibly written deep in my mind

To surface when it pleases,

Flows over me.

But with a flash like lightning

Leaves me perplexed,

But happy for the elusive moment.

A mystery it has been,

A vision of my mind

That repeats itself in a fleeting sensation.

I have tried frantically

To fix it in time,

To find out how, where and when

It happened.

And why .

One thing is certain

It forms a precious

Segment of my being

Which makes me ask myself.

Is such the essence of the spirit

That hovers in a life

Beyond our own?
